With renovations to the Physics and Astronomy Building underway, it is possible to view the many stone carvings that adorn the façade. Professor Emeritus Don Moorcroft has compiled a web guide to the carving, identifying where they are and what they might be. This updates an earlier guide.

Stressed out? Help is at hand.
The Western Wellness program is serving up two more installments in its popular series. On May 27, noon-1 p.m. in UCC 41 the focus is on “Effective Parenting Strategies for School Age Children.” Learn tested parenting strategies that assist in getting your child’s attention without yelling; encourage your child’s natural gifts and talents; help your child to learn and think for themselves; use discipline for learning and self esteem. And on June 23, noon-1 p.m., also in UCC 41, discover the thrills of “Parenting Teens.” Parenting adolescents presents special challenges and requires a shift in your skills. Science fest
The All-Science Challenge sponsored by Let’s Talk Science will bring more than 150 Grade 6-8 to campus May 6 from 10 schools across Southwestern Ontario. The event runs 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. and takes place in the North Campus Building. The challenge, started in 2004 at McMaster University, is now held at 11 universities and features a day of competitions to test students in areas such as engineering, physics, psychology and biology. Photo walk visits campus
The next Photo Walk in London tours the Western campus on Mother’s Day – May 9. These monthly walks have been taking place since last year.
