Wrestler Alec Bauer and track and field athlete Robin Bone have been named the Western Mustangs Athletes of the Week.
Bauer, a third-year Social Sciences student from Belleville, won gold in the 76-kg weight class at the OUA Championships this past Saturday, helping Western’s men’s team to a third-place finish in the overall team competition. It’s the second consecutive year Bauer has medalled at the OUA Championships as he also won silver at 76 kg at last year’s event.
Bone, a third-year BMOS student from London, won gold at the Windsor Team Challenge, taking first place in the pole vault with a 4.36m attempt. The 4.36m mark sets a new unofficial CIS record, besting the old mark of 4.35m that Bone had tied just two weeks ago. Along with her gold medal and record-breaking performance, Bone was also named Athlete of the Meet.
