The Western Libraries archives assistant Theresa Regnier and
Western Community Legal Services staff member Margaret Capes, along
with graduate student Jeff Preston, were named among the 2009 Mayor
of London’s annual Honours List for their contributions to London’s
heritage and housing.

University of Western Ontario Chancellor John Thompson will appear
on the TVO program The Agenda Tuesday night (Jan. 6) to discuss the
opportunities and challenges facing Ontario universities in the
coming years.

Fitness enthusiasts can put their New Year’s resolutions into
practice in the new Western Student Recreation Centre this week.

A University of Western Ontario geographer and surgeon can now add
Order of Canada to their long list of accomplishments.

Warm temperatures in recent days have fueled melting that is
causing some flooding on campus. It is anticipated that water
levels will continue to rise slowly and peak Sunday afternoon, with
the high flow of water continuing well into Monday.

Due to the large amount of snow and potential for freezing rain in
the London area, The University of Western Ontario is closed today.
Western’s three affiliated colleges are also closed.

Many University of Western Ontario services will be closed Dec. 25
to Jan. 4 for the holiday period. Classes resume on Monday, Jan. 5
and academic and administrative offices re-open the same day.

The popular Cafe Scientifique public lecture series begins Jan. 7
with a “magnetic mystery tour” of the human body and an exploration
of MRIs.

A new web page developed by the University of Western Ontario
Research Development & Services brings researchers a short
click away from accessing critical funding.

The new president of The University of Western Ontario is a dynamic
and gifted academic leader committed to taking Western to the next
level in terms of internationally recognized excellence in research
and education.

With the operating hours set for when students return from the
holidays, Campus Recreation staff prepares to open the new Western
Student Recreation Centre for use of fitness equipment and drop-in
gym activities on Jan. 5.
