Brass quintet kicks off series with fanfare
Musica Quinta, a brass quintet of faculty players, starts the
popular Fridays at 12:30 p.m. series on Sept. 17 at the Don Wright
Faculty of Music with a festive program.
Western symposium explores the possible end of landfills
Following the closure of a landfill in nearby Simcoe County – just
weeks before its scheduled opening – The University of Western
Ontario will host a symposium to dissect the reasons behind the
failed project and to explore the notion that the result could lead
to the eventual demise of this most common method of waste
treatment.
In Memoriam – James Teevan
Former Social Science professor James Teevan died Sept. 7 in London
at the age of 67. He had 30 years of service at Western before
retiring in 2001.
A weighty goal for the Mustangs
Building on the success of the 2009 Thanksgiving food drive – where
the Western football program raised the weight of their offensive
line in non-perishable food items – the Mustangs are challenging
fans to a new task: collect the weight of every offensive lineman
on the roster.
